Wykeham Arms
The Wykeham Arms stands in Kingsgate Street, just outside the city walls. It is probably Winchester's most famous pub and is highly popular with locals and visitors alike. It is, of course, named after William of Wykeham, the 14th century Bishop of Winchester who founded the nearby College. The place has a very strong affinity with this scholarly establishment and amongst the curios which literally cover the walls (and ceiling!) are many associated with College life. Take a seat and you'll even find yourself sitting at old school desks. 14 bedrooms
